About BHI
Borromeo Housing, Inc. (BHI) is an Arlington, Virginia-based nonprofit that administers a two-year education, housing, and life skills development program for homeless young mothers, ages 16 to 22, and their babies. BHI believes that all young mothers facing homelessness can achieve an education and attain professional employment while being responsible parents to their children. BHI offers a quality living environment, nurturing support and a disciplined framework to young mothers who are motivated and capable of using our services to achieve their goals.

RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM GOALS
- Provide a safe, stable, and supervised living environment
- Reduce repeat unplanned pregnancies
- Address client mental health and wellness concerns
- Ensure that the children in our care are not threatened by carelessness, abuse or neglect
- Facilitate client enrollment in an educational or vocational training program at least 35 hours/week
- Promote career development and increase earning potential
- Build leadership skills
- Teach positive life choices that enhance children’s health
- Enable self-sufficiency
PROGRAM RESULTS TO DATE
- More than 90 percent of program graduates are living independently and have created stable, nurturing homes for their children
- Program graduates report zero repeat unplanned pregnancies
- 85 percent of our graduates enroll in technical certification or post-secondary education programs
- 100 percent of the young mothers’ children receive appropriate immunizations, child development evaluations, and are enrolled in early learning programs
- Program graduates report reunification with their families
- Program graduates are not dependent on TANF, WIC, and food stamps
